What's new...

My job was good last week- and so far this week. I got a new student, so I now have 14 children enrolled in my class, but they don't all come on the same day. My Tuesdays and Thursdays are pretty crazy though b/c I have 10 on those days. Anyway, I took a video of me playing one of my favorite songs. It's by The Mountain Goats, and it's called Alpha Rats Nest. It's good- I mean the original. Anyway...

Hello friends,
It has been a long busy time since I last posted. I've been working as a teacher for Siskin School for 90 days now (I only know because my 90 day evaluation is coming up), and I must say it is WAY WAY WAY harder than I thought it would be. This job is hard physically, emotionally and even spiritually. Holy mess. That's all I'm allowed to say because of confidentiality laws, but let me reiterate: Holy Mess.

I'm about to go to bed before a pretty hard day at school. My Tuesdays and Thursdays are chaotic these days...but that'll be okay. Reeve is in Waco, TX for a visit to his parents, as well as Ethan Durell's last show ever. Also, my neighbor died yesterday morning. It's pretty sad...and I didn't even know him that well- he was just sort of constant- ya know? He sat outside on his steps every evening and blasted old blues and the eagles music- and always yelled "hello" to me...Reeve would get a, "How ya doin' Mr. Reeves?!" Anyway, I just don't think it's fair. And that's all

First days with children

Well, I have just completed my second day with children in my classroom at Siskin Early Learning Center, and I just think it's totally cool and gross and entertaining and awesome and a new level of disgusting all the time. I like it. That is all.

I made another painting...and I start work next monday

So...I made another painting, but you can't tell what it looks like from this picture...
It's ants with foliage tied to their heads. I also got some pictures of us with the dude who stayed in our spare room last month. His name is Blake, he's pretty cool.

I got a job!

So- I've been stressing out for a little while about what I'm going to "do with my life"...and frankly I still don't know for sure, but I did get a job for now, which is cool. I applied at a place called Siskin Early Learning Institute (it's a pre-school for kids with developmental disabilities, as well as typically developing children), and the job I applied for was a classroom assistant. I figured that I could gain some experience there and then use that to get a better job later. They called me back last week and asked if I would consider taking a lead-teacher position. Long story short- I'm going to be a lead-teacher in a classroom full of 2 year olds. :o) I think it will be cool...and now I have to practice changing diapers b/c I've never had to really do that a lot before. Also- I found this funny picture on the internet while searching for diaper-changing "how-to's"...
