Frustration

So, I've been working really hard at getting products into stores, and then setting up my etsy site which has been totally fun, but also totally frustrating at the same time. I'm having to re-learn photoshop- which I took as a class in high school 10 YEARS AGO (OMG- it's reunion time). Anyway, Etsy seems like it would be really really easy because all the programming is done for you, and all the payment stuff is already worked out...however, they fail to tell you that you are going to have to become a master marketing person, photographer, stylist, model, artist, craftsman - er woman, graphic designer, distributor, and accountant. I guess that's what owning a small business is like....anyway I'm ranting- but that's the beauty of blogs, you can't stop me! So there.

I'm in a cabin on the Tennessee River with my wonderful mother right now, trying to learn how to take macro pics (she loves taking photos of ants) of my jewelry, and feeling calm about most things except for etsy. I'm relating to this pendant I just listed (yes, it's a shameless plug- we need money, what can I say?) :

crafting news

Hello everyone! Doni, David and I have been in full swing with the craft stuff...we're making all sorts of things and selling them in two stores in town: Leo Handmade Gallery and Collective Clothing (our roommates' store). We also set up an Etsy site today so that we can sell stuff online. Check it out your sorry jokers!

Exciting News re: small business

So I started making some felted clips and earrings and wooden pendants with my friends Doni and David, with much input from my amazing and wonderful husband, and here we are two months later, and our stuff is in stores!! You can find "Mr. Other One" stuff at leo hand made gallery and some at collective clothing. We are doing a craft fare this weekend for Hamilton County teachers, and I just applied to be at the Chattanooga Market!!

Anyway, I'll post some pics of the stuff soon....i'm so tired from pushing so hard to get this stuff out there.

I feel much better now

Several people had commented on how my last blog was depressing. Well, here's one that's not. I've been making bows and hair clips, and I cut my hair. I love it. I'm also trying to make jewelry which you should be able to purchase at collective clothing and/or Leo Handmade Gallery. Both awesome stores...here go some pics....

It's been a while

No blog in a long time...but I found myself with not much to do this day (Saturday). This is the first block of multiple hours that I've had completely to myself in a long long time. While I have certainly been less than productive, I think that it has been good. I have been having a hard time finding value in things that aren't directly related to survival (ie. work, food prep., etc.)

I got a new job

Hello everyone! I haven't posted in a long while, but I'm back. I mostly haven't posted because I've been really busy with my job, but because of that- I quit, and I've got a new and exciting career as a nanny! I'm pretty excited about the prospect of being responsible for just one child instead of 15. I'll be working on not complicating my life too much, taking some time to sit back and chill, and then applying to grad school. Anyway, I'm happy about the transition- just wanted to give everyone a little update on myself. So there.
